In London, England, in Elizabethan times, during a ball given by Sir Christopher Hatton at his mansion in Clerkenwell, it is said that Lady Hatton had sold her soul to Beelzebub and while she was at this party, the devil decided to exact payment from her that very night.
As the ball was in full swing, a sinister black robed figure strode into the ballroom, took Lady Hatton by the hand and led her outside.
Shortly later a crash of thunder was heard and a terrible scream and when the guests went outside they found Lady Hatton's heart, freshly torn from her body, bleeding on the ground, with the Lady herself gone.
To this day you can see the place called "Bleeding Heart's Yard."
